We are growing a community of readers!

2022 Program Statistics

As of August 1, 2022, 1,949 individuals attended 132 in-person library events and MAPL distributed 1,783 educational take and make activity kits. 474 people participated in our annual summer reading challenge.

Introducing

Known for her creative and charismatic programming style, we are pleased to introduce Kelsey Grushecky as our new Program and Outreach Librarian. Prior to accepting this position, Kelsey spent the 2021/2022 year as our intern through a Pitt Partnership while completing her Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

Grushecky also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Nebraska and has seven years’ experience as an English Teacher abroad in Japan, Vietnam and Czechia.

Behind the Scenes

Volunteer Alice Dominijanni spends numerous hours every week taking inventory our collection and making detailed changes when required. This means patrons can be assured that the accuracy of our database matches what they will find on our shelves.

Building Exterior

MAPL Board organized the 1st Annual Libations for the Library event to raise money for exterior building improvements.

To round out the improvements we have made to the interior of our building over the past several years, our attention has now turned to the exterior. We have recently addressed repaving the Library’s crumbling sidewalk and in the coming weeks, will begin other building improvements including repainting the outside of the building, replacing shutters, and adding flower boxes to clean up the overall curb appeal.

Your generosity gives us the power to keep making a positive impact in the community we serve

and is an investment in our future. Our little library is busier than ever, making the need even greater. Your gift, no matter what size, helps strengthen our services.

We invite you to give a gift to the Mars Area Public Library 2022 Annual Fund Drive and keep the momentum going strong as we head into 2023 together.

With grateful appreciation,
